East Asia's Geopolitical Features and Future Trends

Abstract: In the East Asian region, the shift in the balance of power between China and the US has been particularly evident in the "post-crisis era". This has helped to restructure the regional power, and also contribute to the formation of a regional pattern where the security center and the economic center are separated. The development trend of this pattern is closely related to the great powers' East Asia strategy, progress of regional hot issues, and security and economic cooperation. At present, China and the US are actively working to build a "new type of great power relations", which will have a range of positive effects on the evolution of the regional pattern. A shared responsibility of the countries in the region and relevant international forces is to better promote the East Asian regional pattern to become more conducive to peace, development, and cooperation.
